It has been used as a planter but is undamaged and clean on the outside. Correctly marked Weller. This pretty Moorcroft plate from England has a green signature which we believe to be that of Walter Moorcroft, son of William. Awww! Look at that face! Here's a very appealing Burlem dog figurine. A special gift for the dog lover. This pretty plate is "peony" pattern. The four peony flowers and buds towards the outer edge are decorated with gold luster. The bright red center is tinted as an attractive focal point for the blue transferware underpattern. The plate is in good condition and measures about 10.25" across with a well in the centre. What a cute little bud vase! Tube-lined and hand-painted with bright daisies, it was made by SMF Schramberg Germany. The decoration is Corso. The vase stands 17 cm high. This is a small, bone china, Royal Albert dealer sign. It is able to stand up on the counter or shelf. Originally intended for point-of-sale merchandising, these signs are now welcomed by collectors. Here is a pretty, hand-painted, English Art Deco plate in the popular octagon shape. The design is called Rustic Cottages and it was made by Ridgway. The design reminds us of something Clarice Cliff would have done. The plate is in good condition with some minor light crazing visible on the back surface, which we often see in English pottery of this period. A rare and collectible Canadian tribute to the Montreal Olympics from Wedgwood. This blue jasperware plate measures almost 21 cm across and is beautifully detailed. Here is a charming little Wedgwood blue jasperware cup and saucer. Makes the perfect gift for Mom or Dad. This sweet little Limoge France fine porcelain cup and saucer is a demi-tasse size. The factory mark is Elite. Condition is excellent with gold decoration all in tact. This very pretty Shelley (England) cup and saucer has an English Registered Design number which dates between 1892 and 1896. The condition is perfect. This Royal Doulton plate has an attractive design featuring wild deer, done in an Arts and Crafts style and likely dating from that era. It will look fine in your Turn of the Century home or in your Doulton collection. There is a strong collecting interest in hand-painted H&K Tunstall pieces from the Art Deco era in England. They are sometimes called "Poor Man's Moorcroft" but we feel they are well able to stand alone and need not be compared. The plate on the left is item PO175. It is a 10" plate in purple, black and white with pansies and is $ 95. The second plate in the centre shows the "autumn tint" leaves pattern. It is item PO174 and is $ 95. The platter on the right is item PO503, also priced at $95. The platter measures just over 11.5" across with slightly raised edges. The black backstamp designates this pattern as Autumn. The platter has surface glaze crazing often seen in H&K pieces, visible on the back more than the colored front side. This should not affect display or use of this gorgeous platter. This Art Deco era cake or pie lift coordinates well with the H&K Tunstall platter above. Although not from the same companies, the era of production of these pieces is similar and the fruit theme is complementary. The pie lift has a gold handle for a rich, decorative look. Here are two gorgeous porcelain bird figurines, hand modelled and painted with great detail as is usual with English animal figures. Item # PO133 is a blue bird guarding its three eggs in a nest. It is marked "Designed and modelled by J.T. Jones - Tomtit - Crown Staff England". This figurine is now SOLD. Item # PO134 is marked "Red crested cardinal - Royal Adderley - Floral - Bone China - Made in England" with the painter's initials. Both figures are in excellent condition. Here is a pretty, country Victorian milk jug in English "print and tint" transferware. Note the simple country flowers, bee and basketweave at the base of the jug which gives such charm. The jug is in excellent condition and is large enough for the family's milk or a big bunch of flowers. The Registration Number dates this piece to the 1880's. Wouldn't these look great on the mantelpiece of your Victorian home? Mid-19th century large scale cup and saucer sets for Mother and Father. Very charming and sentimental. Here is a pretty, old English flow blue plate, rare with the bird scene. The pattern is called “The Haunt of the Snipe” as indicated on the back of the plate. There is a blue printed English diamond registry mark on the back, as well as the company name and some impressed marks. The plate dates from 1870 - 1880's and is in excellent condition. It measures 10" across. Here is a 19th. Century English majolica dessert set consisting of a serving plate and six other individual plates. The set is absolutely gorgeous and in excellent condition. The set was made by the Burslem firm Bodley in about 1870, as indicated by the impressed registration diamond on the back of each piece. Certainly the aesthetic design in the Japanese taste confirms the date. The design consists of a "napkin" motif on candy pink basketweave background. Each plate has a different hand-painted floral design with bees and butterflies as well. They are finished off with a neat gold-banded border. The plates measure about 9.5" across. The server has a removable silver or silver-plate (no marks) handle and pedestal. This vase is not often seen. It is very much in the Arts and Crafts tradition with the two molded poppy head designs on either side. It stands about 8.5" high and is quite heavy and substantial. We have some anecdotal evidence that the Canadian Potteries was bought by Crane, the bathroom fixture folks, in the early 1920's. Thus we date the vase to the early 1920's era. This pretty resting horse is not marked. We attribute him to the Canadiana Pottery, known for glazes in this coloration. He measures about 10" long and 6" high. Here is an elegant pot in desirable colors. The thick red glaze drips attractively over the chocolate brown color. It stands 11" high and makes a substantial impact. We think this pot is the equal of any made in West Germany (sorry European guys!) Here is a great mid-century Canadian Pottery fish. He measures about 30 cm long and is about 20 cm high. He is very thin from side to side. Check out his cute smile. He was likely made by Evangeline (a typical glaze coloration and light red clay base), but we would value any opinions. This Blue Mountain Pottery sitting dog is very attractively marked with his colors. He is either a Golden Retriever or Red Setter type of dog. He measures about 9" long and is 5" high at his head. He is not marked (no room on the base for the stamp). Here is a Blue Mountain Pottery flask or flagon style bottle. It is an attractive shape with its flattened bulbous form and handle. It measures about 8" high, about 8" across the wide side and 4" on its narrow flattened side. This Blue Mountain Pottery frog with one arm placed under his chin, strikes a deeply thoughtful pose. He has his original tag and also a circular label under the base. The frog is quite large at 7"" high. For the Blue Mountain Pottery collector who has everything, we offer just one more! This pair of mocha table lamps are rare and desirable. They stand about 25" high to the tops of the lamp shades. The ceramic bases are 14" high and about 10" wide. The form of the base has a very satisfying proportion and pagoda-like shape. Although dating from the 1960's, these lamps still stand perfectly well in a contempory interior. Here is a Blue Mountain Pottery mocha bottle vase with a band of molded detail. It measures just over 10" high and is marked on the bottle Blue Mountain Pottery Canada, vase logo and 906. This is a beautiful piece. Here are a large and a small ashtray priced well for small gifts at $ 15 each. Here is a display of Blue Mountain dolphins on a circular wood base. The dolphins are harvest gold with one small one slightly different in color than his mum and sibling. The base measures 30 cm or 12" across to give you an idea of scale. Note that these large hollow pots are not amenable to shipping. Please enquire for options. Item # PO109 is a floor vase or perhaps umbrella stand which stands just over 20" high. It is in a pleasant avocado green with decorative molding. A lovely and impressive piece, priced at $95. Item # PO196 is an attractive pot in a speckled matte glaze. It measures 15" high by about 8" wide and would fit comfortably into any decor. It is priced at $75. Item # PO280 flaunts its retro 1970's origin in the flower power theme on both flat sides of the pot. It measures 16.5" high x about 6.5" wide and is priced at $65. Item # PO453 is a lava style West German pot with desirable bright red and cobalt blue colors. The vase dates from the 1970's era. It is marked on the base W. Germany 200 - 28. It is 28 cm or about 11 inches high, and is priced at $ 45. Item # PO454 is a sophistocated little vase for the post-modern home, in neutral shades of grey and chocolate brown with an abstract design of circles and wavy vertical stripes. The vase is marked W. Germany 288-22, and is 22 cm tall. It is priced at $ 30. This huge West German pot should stand alone as an art piece. It measures about 49 cm (19") high at the top of the handle and is about 14" across. It is heavy and cannot be shipped. Truly amazing how the skilled potters of the 1970's can form and fire a pot of this size without damage. We know nothing about this low vase or candle holder other than that it is extremely cool. The signature is provided in photo 3 and we would love to know more about it. The vase appears to be Scandinavian or European, probably from the 1960's or 1970's when many pottery pieces gave the nod to the Art Nouveau period. The maximum diameter of this piece is about 18 cm. Here is a cute and collectible little SylvaC posy bowl in matte brown with a green pixie looking on. Measures about 6 inches in diameter, slightly oval in shape. Marked SylvaC on the base. It is in good condition generally. There is one very small hairline on the inside of the bowl lip only, which cannot be seen from the outside. These stress marks happen during firing and in most cases, do not change thereafter and do not affect the value or beauty of the piece. We usually carry a selection of quality figurines. Please enquire for pictures, prices and availability. This pretty egg cup set is marked Royal Albert Crown China England. The set consists of a square base measuring 6.75" across, which has indents for each of the four matching egg cups. The Art Deco design has hand-painted elements, in particular the red markings on the stylized flowers. There is a painter's initial S marked on the base of each piece. Ridgway of Staffordshire England, produced the “Heritage” pattern especially for Canada, based on genuine hand-engravings from Bartlett’s Scenes of Early Canada 1842. The pieces are made in the Victorian tradition of hand-tinted transferware prints, but probably date from the 1967 Canadian centennial. They are sturdy enough for every day use. Each piece has a border featuring maple leaves and harvest fruits and grains. The center picture differs with each piece. The small bread and butter plates shown here show the Rideau Canal Bytown (Ottawa). Currently in stock are the following pieces:
A very sweet little cruet set, the base shaped like a mushroom with pepper and salt and covered mustard pot from Carlton Ware, England. This will be prized by the many collectors of this line of English pottery. Here is a matching set of five late Victorian or Art Nouveau tiles, unmarked but most probably English. They are glazed in a dark moss green with whiplash poppy design. These would make a very attractive backsplash focal point. |
